Parables, Lullabies and Secrets

Samuel Barber | Adagio for Strings
Leos Janácek | String Quartet No.2 Intimate Letters (arranged for strings)
Bernard Herrmann | Suite from Fahrenheit 451
Michael Leunig | Parables, Lullabies and Secrets

Hall: Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Newcastle, Wollongong, July 7-16.
Featuring the Gondwana Voices (Lyn Williams, director).

“Parables, Lullabies and Secrets will feature [Leunig's] unique and powerful contemplations, and in a work of different hues will feature the responses of various composers, including Brett Dean, John Rogers and, sound sculptor Paul Healy. Performers will include Gondwana Voices, the acclaimed national children’s choir that has grown out of Lyn Williams’ equally celebrated Sydney Children’s Choir.

“The program also includes Bernard Herrmann’s extraordinary music to Truffaut’s sci-fi fantasy Fahrenheit 451, and a new arrangement of Janácek’s second quartet, inspired by a secret passion and the ‘intimate letters’ it generated late in life.
